EFCC Questions Mele Kyari Over Refineries’ Turnaround Maintenance Funds

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reportedly questioned the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari, over the management of funds allocated for the turnaround maintenance of Nigeria’s refineries.
According to insider sources, the anti-graft agency is probing how billions of naira earmarked for the rehabilitation of the nation’s ailing refineries were utilized, amid growing public concerns about their continued non-performance.
While details of the questioning remain sketchy, the EFCC is said to be scrutinizing documents and contracts linked to the maintenance projects to ascertain accountability and transparency.
The development comes at a time when Nigerians are demanding answers on the state of the refineries, which have consumed huge sums in maintenance costs yet remain inactive.
