Security operatives in Katsina State have intercepted a consignment of arms and ammunition believed to be destined for criminal groups operating in the region.

According to police authorities, the operation led to the recovery of a general-purpose machine gun (GPMG), magazines, and several rounds of live ammunition from suspected gun runners. The suspects, who were apprehended during a stop-and-search operation, are currently in custody and assisting investigators.

The police emphasized that the interception is part of ongoing efforts to curb the proliferation of illegal arms fueling banditry and insurgency in the North-West. They assured residents that security agencies remain committed to dismantling criminal networks and restoring peace to affected communities.
