NLC Urges States to Emulate Imo on N104,000 Minimum Wage

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has called on other states across the federation to take a cue from Imo State in adopting a progressive wage structure.

This appeal follows the decision of the Imo State Government to approve a minimum wage of N104,000 for its workers, a move widely hailed as a significant step towards cushioning the economic hardships faced by Nigerians.

According to the NLC, Imo’s bold initiative demonstrates true commitment to workers’ welfare and sets a standard for other state governments to follow. The union stressed that adopting similar wage adjustments nationwide would help reduce poverty and improve the standard of living for millions of Nigerian workers.

The Congress further urged governors to prioritize labour welfare, noting that workers remain the backbone of economic growth and development.
