The abduction was confirmed by the Chancellor of the Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan, Reverend Father Jacob Shanet, in a press statement issued shortly after the incident. He described the abduction as a deeply saddening development and called for prayers for the safe return of the priest.
“We solicit your prayers for his quick and safe release. We invite the general public to remain calm and avoid taking the law into their own hands,” Shanet appealed.
He assured that every legitimate and available means would be explored to secure the priest’s release, stressing the church’s commitment to ensuring that Reverend Father Amos returns unharmed and in good health.
As of the time of this report, efforts to reach the Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, for comments on the incident were unsuccessful, as he did not respond to calls.
